Judge Judith Sheindlin, best known as Judge Judy, has said she is retiring from in‑front‑of‑camera television and is formally passing the role to her son, lawyer and former Putnam County district attorney Adam Levy. Speaking on ABC’s Good Morning America, Sheindlin said, “It’s time for me,” and confirmed she will remain involved behind the scenes as an executive producer on Levy’s follow‑up series, Adam’s Law. The announcement follows a weekend statement confirming the end of her Amazon series Judy Justice, whose final episode is set to air on Oct. 22.

Son Adam Levy to take over with Adam’s Law; mother to executive‑produce
Sheindlin said she felt comfortable leaving because her son Adam Levy is ready to fill the role. Levy, a lawyer and former Putnam County district attorney, appears to be the on-camera successor: his new series, Adam’s Law, premieres Monday on CBS Media Ventures. Levy told Good Morning America that his mother’s advice to him was to “be yourself and don’t screw this up,” and described their working relationship as close, with Sheindlin offering advice on cases and production. Sheindlin confirmed she will executive‑produce the series.
Judy Justice to end; Sheindlin developing adult animated project
Alongside the retirement news, it was confirmed that Judy Justice — Sheindlin’s Prime Video spinoff, which premiered in 2021 — will conclude with its last episode set to air on Oct. 22. Sheindlin’s representative, Gary Rosen, told outlets the former television star is also developing a new adult animated series called Judyverse, which will feature a baby version of Judge Judy. The representative characterised the project as part of Sheindlin’s continued creative plans off camera.
