The road has come to an end for Ransom Canyon.
Netflix has cancelled the Texas-set romantic drama after two seasons, meaning Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly will not return as Staten Kirkland and Quinn O'Grady for a third chapter.
The decision comes less than two months after Season 2 arrived on Netflix on 23 July 2026. Kelly has since responded publicly to the cancellation, thanking viewers for supporting the show across what she described as âtwo beautiful seasons.â
Netflix brings Ransom Canyon to an end
Netflix has opted not to move forward with a third season of Ransom Canyon, bringing the series to a close after two outings.
Created by April Blair and based on Jodi Thomas's book series, Ransom Canyon blended romance and family drama against the backdrop of Texas ranching dynasties battling over relationships, legacies, and land.
Duhamel starred as rancher Staten Kirkland, with Kelly playing Quinn O'Grady, his longtime friend and central love interest.
The wider cast included James Brolin, Eoin Macken, Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Andrew Liner, Marianly Tejada and Jack Schumacher.
Netflix has not publicly provided a detailed explanation for ending the series.
Kelly says farewell to her Ransom Canyon family
After the cancellation news, Kelly looked back on her time on the series in a social-media post featuring moments with Duhamel.
She thanked viewers for supporting the series and said goodbye to what she called her Ransom Canyon family.
The actress's message draws a line under a show that centred much of its emotional story on Quinn and Staten's complicated relationship.
For fans who hoped to see that relationship continue into another season, Kelly's farewell makes the finality of the cancellation even clearer.
Season 2 spent less time in Netflix's Top 10
The first season of Ransom Canyon, which premiered in April 2025, spent five weeks in Netflix's Top 10 and secured a renewal roughly two months after its debut.
Season 2 had a shorter run in the chart, spending three weeks in the Top 10 following its July 2026 release.
That provides useful context around the cancellation, but it is important not to confuse correlation with confirmation: Netflix has not publicly said that declining audience performance was the reason it cancelled the show.
What is confirmed is that the streamer has decided not to order Season 3.
The story had room to continue
The cancellation comes despite the creative team having ideas about where Ransom Canyon could go next.
Before the decision, showrunner April Blair discussed Quinn and Staten's future beyond Season 2 and the challenges that could follow after the pair reconciled.
Season 2 ended with Quinn rejecting Oliver's proposal and reuniting with Staten, leaving the central relationship in a position to develop further rather than simply repeating the pair's previous break-up-and-reconciliation cycle.
Those plans will remain unexplored unless the series' future changes elsewhere.
For the moment, however, there is no announced third season, and Netflix's Ransom Canyon ends after two seasons.
