Wardogs smashes Steam launch numbers and has already made more on PC than Bungie’s Marathon, analysis says
Bulkhead’s Wardogs has sold more than two million copies on Steam and generated roughly $70m, outpacing Arc Raiders and Helldivers 2 at launch on Valve’s platform, Alinea Analytics tells IGN.

Wardogs, Bulkhead’s tactical first‑person shooter, has stormed Steam after entering early access on 10 September, hitting a peak of 428,666 concurrent players and selling millions of copies in its opening days. New analysis from Alinea Analytics, reported by IGN, indicates the game has reached roughly 2.2 million Steam sales and around $70 million in revenue — figures that put it ahead of Arc Raiders and Helldivers 2 when launch windows are aligned on Valve’s platform and, according to that analysis, ahead of Bungie’s Marathon in lifetime revenue across PC and console so far.
Early access launch draws huge player numbers and rapid sales
Wardogs entered Steam Early Access on 10 September and immediately gained significant traction. The game peaked at 428,666 concurrent players shortly after launch and reached one million copies sold on day one, 1.25 million by day two and two million within five days, Bulkhead announced. Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics told IGN that the title is now up to approximately 2.2 million copies on Steam. Elliott’s figures place Wardogs ahead of Arc Raiders (1.7 million) and Helldivers 2 (1 million) when comparing aligned launch performance on Valve’s platform.
Analysis estimates Wardogs has generated about $70m on Steam alone
According to Alinea Analytics’ data cited by IGN, Wardogs has generated roughly $70 million in Steam revenue so far. Elliott’s analysis says this Steam-only total exceeds the lifetime revenue Bungie’s Marathon has earned across PC and console to date. Elliott used the performance as an example of the strength of community‑driven live‑service launches, saying: "It’s another reminder that, when it comes to live‑service games, community trumps budget and pedigree." He also argued Wardogs’ $40 price point helped capture a broad audience beneath the friction point of $70 AAA releases.
Early access future and the challenge of major upcoming releases
Wardogs remains in early access and — according to its Steam page — is expected to stay there for one to two years, with a console release planned for 2028. The Steam page states: “We are adamant that we do not want to be in Early Access for a long time.” Bulkhead boss Joe Brammer said Season 2 will bring “lots of new content and changes” as the game moves into its next development phase. Alinea’s Elliott warned Wardogs still faces a long haul to match the longer‑term sales of titles like Arc Raiders and Helldivers 2, and will contend with major releases such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and GTA 6 on the horizon.
User sentiment recovers and community clips go viral
User reviews on Steam have moved to "Very Positive" after an early wave of complaints about launch issues, indicating most problems have been resolved and players are engaging with the game. Several gameplay clips showing chaotic Wardogs moments have gone viral online, highlighting community creativity and engagement. IGN’s report notes a running player joke that the Lonestar faction allegedly attracts the worst players and loses the most matches—an observation that has appeared in community content and discussion.
